Senior right-hander Jon Alley took a no-hitter into the fifth and a shut-out into the seventh to lead Greely to a 8-1 win over Yarmouth. Alley ended up going 6 1/3 innings allowing four hits and 2 walks while striking-out eight. Alley retired 12 in a row from the first to fifth innings including six strike-outs in a row. Junior Sam Green pitched to the last two batters, striking-out both. Junior second baseman Joe Bell was the offensive star going 3 for 3 with 2 doubles, 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.
The Rangers got all the runs they needed in the first inning. Chris D’Allesandro walked, Bell singled and both advanced on a wild pitch. Junior catcher Chris Martin drove in the first run with a ground ball to the right side followed by an RBI single by Alley. In the second, Bell drove in 2 with a double to deep center followed by a RBI single by Martin. The Rangers capped the scoring in the sixth with RBI singles by sophomore Matt McDonough and senior Brad Robinson.
The Rangers improved to 1-1. The Clippers fell to 0-1.
