Greely rallied from a 6 run deficit, including 4 in the bottom of the seventh, eventually winning in the bottom of the 8th inning 9-8. Trailing 8-4 entering the bottom of the seventh and facing possible elimination, senior co-captain Kevin Burke walked and freshman Matt Reade followed with a double to right center. After a pop-out, Joe Bell walked to load the bases and Burke scored on a passed ball. Sam Green followed with a RBI double and Bell scored on Chris Martin’s ground-out. With Green at third and 2 outs, senior co-captain Jon Alley singled to center to tie the score. In the bottom of the eighth, Paul Valente doubled down the left field line. That set the stage for Kevin Burke who singled to center with 2 strikes. The throw to the plate was not in time which set off the celebration at home. Jon Alley earned the win in relief. Alley went 6 2/3 innings, allowing 5 hits, 2 walks and struck-out 7. Down 6-0, Paul Valente drove in the Rangers first two runs in the third with a 2-out single. Down 8-2 in the fifth, Caleb Jordan led off with a double, Valente walked and Burke singled. Reade drove in Jordan on a ground-out and Bell later followed with a 2-out single to drive in Valente with the fourth Ranger run. Greely improves to 11-6 and advances to play 3rd seeded Mountain Valley Thursday in Rumford.
